It hasn't been as bad as "all fingers and thumbs" using the computer, but my fingers really do feel the affects of rattling around on the keyboard for some while (including this blog!). This is because of residual sensory issues in my hands and fingers following inflammation on my spinal cord (LETM from T6 to C2/3).
Three-and-a-half years ago, I could no longer use my hands and arms effectively. My hands were paralysed and I had only partial use of my arms. I could do nothing much for myself!
Fortunately, I started to re-gain the use of both hands and arms after a period of four months. The only problem now remaining is that although I can use my arms, hands and fingers, sensation problems persist such as bad 'pins and needles' and some sensation loss etc...
Although I could spend time moaning about this problem, it actually makes me do the opposite - in particular marvelling at the incredible design of our hands! Have you ever thought about it?
"The human hand is one of the most precise and wonderful mechanical devices in creation and vastly more impressive than any mechanical device that man has made." (Stuart Burgess - The Design and Origin of Man)
Our hands and fingers do far more than would be required for 'survival' only, including but not limited to, fine motor control, fully opposable thumbs, ability for power and precision grip, ability to play keyboards - with a unique motor cortex in the brain (a quarter of which is devoted to controlling he hands and fingers)!! It's all astonishing in design and complexity.
"In the absence of any other proof, the thumb alone would convince me of Gods existence." (Sir Isaac Newton).
